PARODONTOSIS PROPHYLAXIS
The most common cause of gingivitis and parodontosis is presence
of bacterial plaque. It comes from incorrect or complete lack of hygiene.
Dental plaque – is a layer of bacterias and cardbohydrates which stick
to dental surface. It builds up every day. If it is not removed, it transforms
to dental plaque.
Dental calculus – is described as mineralized layer of dental plaque.
It occurs on dental surface and also grows under the gum causing mechanical
damage, also maintaining and advancing inflammatory process.

Gingivitis is 100% curable, but if left untreated can lead to deep inflammation.
In this process enzymes, cytokines and number of other substances support
inflammation, which is responsible for gums, soft and bone tissues destruction.
The result of this process is clinical crown elongation (gum recession), bone
atrophy, pathological deep pouches which all lead to teeth loosening and loss.
Other symptoms are loss of taste and unpleasant oral smell.

Professional removal of dental calculus. Dental calculus is removed with
ultrasound scaler and sander. We remove superficial discoloration and deposit,
and then we smoothen all surfaces with rubbers, brushes, pastes, polish areas
between teeth with sand stripes. After removal deposits, oversensitivity is
relieved with foams, gels and fluorine varnishes.
This procedure takes from 30 to 90 minutes. It can be done in local anesthesia.
Range of procedure is individual in each case. In case of large dental deposits
it is completed after two or three visits. Each visit ends with instruction about
hygiene, tooth brushing and use of accessory tools like dental floss.
